About this site

Purpose and structure of Groningen.nl

Welcome to Groningen.nl, your online point of entry to the city and province of Groningen.

This website is intended to help new and current residents and businesses - both Dutch and international - to find their way in Groningen.

We have designed the website with the user in mind, so we have combined both practical information relevant to living here in Groningen, with more informal stories and articles.

We try not to repeat information which can be found elsewhere; we aim to provide an overview of reliable information already online, and to direct you to other websites which provide useful information about life in Groningen and the Netherlands.

The website is in this sense an experiment. If you have feedback on the navigation or you miss certain information, please let us know by sending an email to portal@marketinggroningen.nl.

The website is owned jointly by the Municipality of Groningen and the Province of Groningen, and hosted by Marketing Groningen. It is made possible by the support of the Accord of Groningen.

Our partner sites

Accord of Groningen
The Accord of Groningen (Akkoord van Groningen) is a partnership between the municipality of Groningen, the province of Groningen, the University of Groningen, the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen and the University Medical Centre Groningen. These five institutional partners have worked together for over a decade on matters of mutual importance. The success of this partnership has, amongst other things, garnered a European label for urban good practices. Check out the URBACT website to read more about the label.
