Finding a job is a process in and of itself, especially when you’re not in your home country. On this page you will find bits of information and useful links to organisations that will make your job search as easy as possible.

Where to find a job

There are different types of jobs you can search for: from an 8 hour side job to do beside your studies, to a full-time career. Underneath you can find various ways to find a job which doesn't require proficiency in the Dutch language (yet).

  • Make it in the North: Jobs for English speakers who don’t speak Dutch yet in the Northern Netherlands (Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe).                   They also have many free services available to help in your jobsearch: career events, 1-on-1 job hunt advice, and a personal Jobseeker Dashboard with handy Career Roadmap.
  • LinkedIn: A platform where companies post new vacancies and where you can get in touch with people from companies you would like to work for. Find and create your career opportunities on Linkedin! (Dutch people love LinkedIn)
  • Horecagroningen.nl: A platform for jobs in hospitality. Another way to find jobs in hospitality or retail is by taking a look around Groningen city itself, and asking if there are job openings at places you would like to work. Make sure to have your CV with you!
  • Recruitment agencies: Recruitment agencies are there to help you if you are having noluck with your job search.
  • Create your dream job as an international: Nothing of interest? Create job opportunities yourself by sending an open application to companies you would like to work for. Be proactive! Companies who are certainly international friendly can be found on this page from Make it In the North.
